Project name: TRETYAKOV GALLERY
Location: Moscow
Full project overview: here
Implemented as part of the UNK project
The visual image of the new building is determined by different components. On the one hand, the architectural quotation from the cornice of the Tretyakov Gallery main building, with the authentic Vasnetsov tiles pattern, in the frame shape, encircling the canvas of the painting, creates a direct association with art galleries. On the other hand, stained glass windows with the recognizable red and white color of the complex building walls as well as with the colors of the main building frieze are styled as Russian Impressionism paintings. And finally, the glass profile part of the building, crowning the space, represents glass lantern roofs as the main element of the art gallery buildings.
This ensemble allows to create a memorable architectural image and preserve the integrity of the museum quarter. Separate parts of stained glass windows are framed like paintings. That`s how the main facade overlooking the Kadashevskaya embankment is highlighted. This design solution enters into a dialog with the surroundings, reflecting in the drainage channel, and develops into a complete work.
